The Ohio Kickoff of the 2019 Skyline Chili Crosstown Showdown, which features Northwest playing Taft this Wednesday, has been moved to Marx Stadium on the campus of Walnut Hills High School. Kickoff is 7 p.m. in what will be the first high school football game played in the Buckeye state this season.
Originally scheduled to be the first football game played at the new Stargel Stadium located in Cincinnati’s West End adjacent to Taft High School, but Cincinnati Public School officials made the decision late last week to reschedule games there the first two weeks of the season after heavy rains delayed final paving and to allow time to accommodate any further weather issues that could impact construction at the new facility.
As a result, CPS plans to hold the first football game at Stargel on Friday, September 13, when Taft meets Withrow. All other games scheduled there between now and the opener, including Wednesday’s Northwest vs. Taft game in the Showdown, will be played at alternate sites.
Tickets for the Northwest-Taft game are $7 and will be available at both schools and at the gate. The Skyline Chili Crosstown Showdown presented by Mercy Health Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine and Meijer celebrates its 22-year anniversary this year as the nation’s largest and longest running high school football showcase.
